Valentine’s Day
I wasn’t going to post about Valentine’s day, because there has been heaps of people slagging off on Valentine’s Day and making it into this depressing time for singles, which has made me feel a bit upset, and quilty for being able to enjoy it. But I’m trying to not let other people influence me, and when it comes down to it, my husband put such an amazing effort into this last weekend that he deserves a thank-you post.
If you’re one of those who’ve slagged off on Valentine’s Day, please spare a thought for those who actually celebrate it and enjoy it. Particular those like me who have only been able to celebrate it 3 times in their entire life. I don’t need the quilt trip for doing things right, and being happy.
Is Luke’s outfit not increadible HOT?!
Anyway, this amazing weekend.
I kind of knew that SOMETHING was going down because Luke was pretty secretive with his phone for like a week before hand. But I had no idea what was planned. This was actually quite a scary/worrying experience as I usually know Luke’s secrets straight away because I can read his tells, and he gives not so subtle clues! But this one was sealed pretty tight…
Saturday morning he put me in the car and we drove off to Brisbane. He kept exiting off the highway at random places and then going back on to put me off the scent, but I knew!
We got totally lost in the city because of Google maps not recognsing the one way streets, and wanting us to drive up pedestrian streets (!!!). But we parked and walked to Queen Street mall where I got my next instruction- buy a new dress and some new shoes! Off we went and picked up a cute dress and some leggings, and some adorable shoes which cost 3times as much as everything else… :-S These babies are staying in the box, on the top shelf so that Little Miss P can’t get to them (she has completely ruined my wedding shoes by chewing off the bow, and just generally doing what puppies do! Luke looked VERY swanky buying his shirt, vest, tie and new shoes also. Lots of fun!
We went and had lunch at this place where Luke always went when he worked in the city. They have the BEST chicken curry EVER. We seriously recommend it. I totally should have got some instead of just picking at Luke’s and having a sandwich later!
We went for a little walk and got to this beautiful hotel with the HUGEST bed you ever did see! We dumped our stuff, and headed out again to pick up the rest of the outfit (shoes had not been bought at this stage, nor had Luke’s outfit...). We walked around and went into a book shop and spent a fair while just reading and browsing through all the books. Bliss!
We got ready because we were going out for dinner. This was also a suprise (though I figured we probably would be going out SOMEWHERE), we got ready and went downstairs. I had a melt down about my hair and it being crap atm, but we got over it.
When we got downstairs we waiting for a short while and a LIMOUSINE came to pick us up! I was so stoked. Can you believe I had NEVER been in one before that night?! It was fantastic and we drank Riccadonna all the way to the jazz club. At the jazz club we had seats front and center and had a meal (not so hot to trot, but enjoyable none the less), and listened to some funky jazz and drank wine.
After that we went to the casino and gave some people luck, and I had a tequilla sunrise, because that was the first drink Luke ever bought me, (he bought it for me when we were at this bar in Caloundra with Aaron one time, WAY before we were together). It was pretty fun just looking at people’s tables. Lady luck was not with us, so we decided not to bet any money, but I still love the casino- it’s so exciting and fun and loud.
On Sunday we had a bit of a sleep in, ate some breakfast that we didn’t have to cook (yay!), and went to the art gallery, and Gallery of Modern Art. It was FANTASTIC, and I was so inspired. I wish we lived in Brisbane so that I could just go and sit in there all the time. I (may) do a post on some reflections from the art gallery… possibly.
My lovely Valentine’s Day present- a tea cup ring from Jazz‘s store (my FAVOURITE place which I always get pressent from!)!
We headed home to see Miss Pepper, and relaxed (in the heat) for the rest of the afternoon. I was actually pretty tired from such a busy weekend, and SO much walking around! But this was probably a good thing considering all the sinful food I ate (But I was actually pretty good- no dessert, chocolates or sweets!)!
Thank-you Luke for such a beautiful weekend. I love you. I don’t regret one minute with you, except for the times when I haven’t appreciated you as much as I should. As weird as it seems, thank-you also for not giving me chocolates, or suggesting dessert, or sweets during our weekend, and for helping me to make the right food choices (I said it was weird). And also for thinking of me in all the different ways and aspects of ‘me’. You are amazing for thinking of EVERYTHING, even my makeup (which you don’t like), and for taking time to study me leading up to this weekend so that you knew what to bring! It makes me smile.
Thanks for visiting my site again! keep checking back for more updates!
