Dear Mini-Me

You’re currently 17, in year 12 at high school, and wondering if your life plans are going to work out, and what you should do in the mean time (Uni etc).

Follow the path. It’s there for you, even though you can’t see it. Things will happen, fall into place. Your life hasn’t really taken that much effort so far, but at times it felt like it was. Trust me, in hindsight, it wasn’t.

Be honest, and accountable. There will come a time when you’ll loose interest in your best friend *hangs head in shame*, as both you of focus on your boyfriends. Don’t let this happen. It’s the only thing you regret. Let her keep you accountable, and learn from each other. Oh, and don’t leave Katie’s wedding early, just cause it’s already an hour later then when you told Luke (your future husband) that’s when you’d be home. Tell him you won’t be home till late that night. This will change history, in that, you will now get engaged at a different time/day, but in the end, you’ll still get engaged and live happily ever after.

Oh, just remember, NO BRIDESMAIDS. This was one of the best decisions you ever made- don’t change it.

In 2009 you’ll fall in love with the most adorable puppy in the world, and your husband will buy her on a whim and you won’t be sure it’s a good idea, but trust me. It is the BEST idea. She will bring you more joy, and bring you two closer together then every before. She is amazing. When you get there, give her a kiss for me. xo

Maybe you should have done something different at Uni… but because of what you did, and what you found, your dad started a business and now there 7 people working there, and your dad is really excited about it all. All those lives would change if you didn’t do what you did at Uni… No pressure of anything… :-S

Oh, and keep being arty. You stop for a while, and people talk to you and ask you if you’re still painting and what not, and you say “No” and then they look sad, or mutter under their breath, “That’s such a shame” and things like that. It breaks your heart, and you loose ground. Keep growing and experimenting and loving and having passion.

One last thing. Don’t fall in love with those boys at school. You never go out with any of them. In fact, you hardly see them after school. They’re not worth it. You find someone who treats you like you’re more precious and expensive then gold or jewels. He’s a keeper.

Good luck! You do alright kid…

A very lovely post – if only we really received a letter from our future selves – I think it would of been very helpful!

“Follow the path. It’s there for you, even though you can’t see it. Things will happen, fall into place.” – I love this. It reminds of how the other day Oprah said something along the lines of…”I believe everything is in divine order”…something I’ve been contemplating lately.

Wouldn’t it be great?! Very handy indeed!

Yeah, I guess for me I meant on a spiritual level- that God has the plan, I just need to listen to him and follow it. Didn’t want to make it an overly spiritual post though!!

But I’ve found in my life that that’s the way it’s happened for me- I didn’t know why things happened, but He did. :-)

I guess they’re not necesarily the most important life changing things… BUT I really couldn’t tell myself to do life changing things differently- I don’t know where I’ll end up if that happens!! These are just a few smallish things. :-)
