I use to thave thing about books that cost 7.99 from QBD... they seemed to ALWAYS be good books, as long as they had a cute cover. :-) Carmen, Goals definitely help me too- Europe being our goal currently, then some major appliances and nursery things. I always like having a bit of pocket money each week though- so I can indulge myself in a coffee with friends, or take-away when I don't feel like cooking, or craft supplies. :-) Jaz, I definitely need to have savings in the bank too- it's a relief to think that if an unexpected bill, or a really great bargain came up that we could get it and it wouldn't be a problem! When I was younger and my brother and I go pocket money I was the spender and he was the saver. Now days I'm a good saver but only if I have a goal. Like right now we'd like a house so I have to keep reminding myself of this goal and looking at pictures to keep me motivated. I also have rules in place for myself with money like I ALWAYS have to have a certain amount of $$ in the bank account for emerganises. Yeah when I was single I’d spent quite a lot of money. I love to shop! I'm crazy about art & craft supplies and stationary! Also...clothes, jewellery, shoes, acessories...the list goes on. I've always been OK at saving. Not great...but OK. I will freak out if I've got no savings in the bank. Even if it's just a hundred dollars, i feel better to know something is there. Since moving out of home, and having a partner & a baby to share finances with, I've become a little more disciplined when it comes to having a budget and paying bills on time. It's kind of an inbuilt instinct as a mum now. I have to make sure my child has everything she needs (and wants!). It's a catch 22 though - because every time I walk past Pumpkin Patch or Cotton On Kids my "Motherly Instincts" to clothe my child in cool kids clothes tend to kick in too! I go through phases. Sometimes I'll be on a savings stint...and then I see a see a shoe sale and I get all silly. haha. It’s a hard one. I love to shop! I’m crazy about art & craft supplies and stationary!
