Swaps and Shops!

Today has been one of those days where everything sort of piles on top of you and you wonder how you’re even breathing. Well, maybe it isn’t that bad, but I still feel a bit overwhelmed with work! Thankfully I had the foresight last night to prepare a slow-cooker meal, so when I walked in the door this afternoon I was greated with the lovely smell of baked potato soup cooking away! I have some bread rising as well, and have made a bit of a garlic bread thing (easy peasy), so now we’re set for a lovely comforting night in- just what I need!

Another happy thing is that I get to look at the beautiful puppy softie that Sarah sent me yesterday! According the beautiful note I recieved with this pile of cuteness Sarah got the inspiration for it from my very own Miss P, so I have aptly named this puppy Salt! Now I have my Pepper and Salt sitting on the couch with me, and that’s definitely a perfect way to relax!

I was very naughty with the softie that I made for the swap and I didn’t send mine till a week late! Thankfully it is in the mail now, and Tab should get it today or tomorrow! I’ll wait and let her show you what I made! It’s still a secret on my Creative 365 too. I desperately wanted to show it off, but resisted!

Another thing that has me excited (I’m doing pretty good at thinking of positives to overrun my negative day, hey?!), is the launch of my new etsy shop!

sunshineshop

I’m selling digital Scanart posters, which you can download and print at your leisure any size up to A2! I’ve made the prints only $2 each, because they’re digital copies. So they’re very affordable if you want something inspirational to post up on your wall! I have a few on my wall at work. I find it really good to have beautiful things to look at while I work. It makes the day some much brighter!

Sitting Owls

Things have been a bit owl crazy around here in the last few months. When mum and I went to the craft show the other month she bought this very cute pattern for owls that stand up around your house. We’ve made them at craft group, and everyone has made multiple sets. Except maybe mum?!

Here is the blog of the woman who created these cute little things!

Anyway, I have two families, plus a little green one, plus a blue one Nana made me for my birthday! They are a range of sizes, and I want to make a rainbow of them. Below is the start of my rainbow of owls. I need to go and buy a few more pieces of fabrics in colours I don’t usually buy. I started these last week when Naomi and Jo came over for some craft. It was really nice to craft with other people. That’s one of the things I love about craft group.

Usually at nights I just do things by myself, and find satisfaction in people from the internet loving my creations (that would be you all!), and while that is definitely still the case, it is fun to have people to talk to while I make things! Does anyone else feel like this? To be honest, I have this hope that my children might like doing arts and crafts as well, and then we can all play together and make fun things.

June Challenge Update

ACHIEVEMENTS:

So I’m half way through the June Challenge that I started this month. I’m really, really happy with how it’s all going. We’ve only eaten out twice this month, and both times we spent our spending money- none of our savings. In totally I think we’ve spent about $20 on takeaway.

STRUGGLES:

The hardest thing for me has being going without my diet coke! And the fact that we keep seeing really nice resturaunts that we want to go to! We’re holding out till July though!

GOAL PROGRESS:

One of the goals of this challenge was to pay off our only credit card. It was $3500, and we used it to pay for our European holiday we’re going on in October. Two weeks in and we’ve paid it all off, which is FANTASTIC news for us. This has really spured us on to keep going too! We did up a budget of all the ‘extras’ we want to do on our tour, and extra expenses, as well as spending money, and have made a new goal. We want $6000 to take away with us to cover everything, and have a stack of spending money (this holday just keeps getting more and more expensive! I will let you know a bit more about what we’re doing later…).

THINGS THAT HAVE HELPED:

Because we’ve made this commitment to not eating out, we’ve decided that we don’t even have the option to eat out. Having this mindset has been EXTREMEMLY helpful, because there have been quite a few nights when I was not up to cooking dinner and it would have been easier to just eat take-out. If we don’t have time to cook dinner, then we’ve decided that we’re better off going without dinner at all. We haven’t had to do this yet, but we have had a few nights of an egg on toast, or a toasted sandwhich eaten on our way out the door!

Cup-a-soups have been our lunch time saviours. We have a bit of a stash in my draw at work, so any days when we would have normally had takeaway for lunch we have had those!

If you’re doing the June Challenge with me, how it’s going so far for you??
