My attempt at Free Motion Quilting

So I’m doing things a little differently today and thought I would do a bit of a vodcast instead of write it all out…

I would appreciate your feedback on the free motion quilting I was learning, and how you think I can improve!!

You may want to do your experimentation with batting and backing as it does change the tension to what you will experience on the actual quilt. Also, you may find it a bit easier with a clear or open toe foot (darning foot they used to be called). Small mistakes not that noticeable once it is quilted. A blog is having a quilt along which you may want to watch….http://afewscraps.blogspot.com/ Good luck

Hi Talia, Just found your site. You are doing well with your quilting.
Just a helful hint. Try using a walking foot for your quilting.
It wont pull so much and you will have more freedon.

Thanks for that!! I will have a go this week trying to replicate the quilt as best I can!

I want to get a darning foot, but was thinking I might wait till after Christmas when I (hopefully) get a new sewing machine!

Thanks for that link too, I’ve had a look and LOVE it! :-D

    Thanks Heather!

I’m hoping to get a new sewing machine for Christmas, so will get a walking foot then! I think I might wait until the new year to have a go at this quilt. :-)
