Naturopath

I’ve been going to the naturopath for about six weeks now. I was nervous about going at first, because I had no idea what to expect, or how it would sit with my beliefs etc. I’m happy to say now though that it’s going well. It’s always interesting going to learn about how to balance all the things my body needs to function properly.

How things were before the naturopath:
The reason I first went to the naturopath was because of my thyroid. It’s enlarged, and has been for about 3 years now. This naturopath was holding a seminar on thyroids which I went along to. I liked her approach to health, and the information she gave was incredibly valuable, so I booked in for an appointment!

What I learnt:
* My thyroid doesn’t work properly. :-(
* My adrenal glands don’t work properly. :-(
* I was dehydrated
* I lacked magnezium
*The reason I’m so tired all the time is because of those adrenal glands- my body isn’t using up the energy I’m giving it via food and all the fat it makes just sits in my blood for a lot longer then it should, hence the lack of energy…

What’s happening now:

I’m currently taking some suppliments to increase my energy and get my motabolism kicked in.
I’m (unfortunately) not eating carbs or sugars, because we’re trying to train my body to use the energy it already has.

Positives:

* She was able to answer all my questions
* She asked me lots of questions. I felt like she had a good understanding of my lifestyle etc., and so could make informed judgements when she recommended things to me
* She’s very supportive and understanding

Minus:

* Because it’s natural health and healing it takes longer to see results then if I were taking some sort of medice.
* It’s expensive, but not as expensive as some other alternatives…
* I really REALLY like homemade bread… :-(

Interesting:
* I had my first iridology experience
* I had my first live blood test
* Both were intersesting :-)

    Thank you for sharing info about naturopathy, have heard a lot about it, but I’ve got not much clue about who all can bebefit from it.
    May be I should do some research.
    Loved your colorful blog :)

    Cheers!!

    The naturopath sounds great. I definately think it’s better for you than throwing lots of pills at the problem! And good job getting a blood test! I mean that, I’m not brave enough yet lol!

    I like the blog – good job! I almost always want to go along with the holistic remedies. I’m tired of seeing the latest “Wonder Drug”, only to find out a yr or two later that it causes some horrible disease. I love the tv commercials for prescription drugs, I suppose they need to checklist any identified side-results (that is good) but it usually makes the side-effects of the treatment sound worse then the disease.
