The post title says it all- I’m pregnant. 12 weeks today, and entering stage 2!

We’re super excited about this new adventure we’re embarking on. Luke has already blabbed the news to his friends and family, but I’ve resisted the urge! I have held out to the date we planned to tell people on!

With our teaching/learning background, we want to create an online space for our growing family to each record some of the things they’ve been learning and thinking about. Now seams like a great time to start it as we document this little babies development in utero, and our adjustments to patenting life.

We’re starting a new family blog, Code, Craft & Cooking: The Carbis Family Blog. Here we’ll talk about how baby is developing, and growing, and all those baby things!

I’m not giving up on the craft blog stuff- no way! I’m launching a brand new blog- Number 19! This blog will be about creativity, so if you like the crafty stuff I do, then check that one out!

The rest of this year is looking like it’s going to be pretty chock-a-block. A month or so ago it seemed like it would be kinda quite but now it’s all full steam ahead.

I’ve made the official decision NOT to defer next semester. There were a few deciding factors, the main one being that I FINALLY enrolled early enough in subjects that I was able to get into the photography course I’ve been wanting to do since the start of last year. That coupled with reducing our Korea holiday made me think that I’d be able to do it.

Remember a few weeks ago I showed you what I’d been working on all semester? The Cultur-e quilt project? Well that will be a subject in itself for the rest of the year, which I really need to get thinking about again (it’s so hard to think about Uni when it’s holidays!). I’ll be updating this blog in the next few weeks and starting a new one, and with that I’ll start some advertising looking for quilters from around the globe interested in participating in the quilt. If you like quilting, send me an email. And if you have a suggestion of what I should do if more then one person from a country/region applies, let me know. Do I just pick someone I think will do the best job, make it first in best dressed, ask them to show some of their previous quilts?

I got my cooking mojo back the other day, which is a nice relief. I’ve been a bit out of it of late, but Jamie’s 30 Minute meals, and a lovely selection of summery foods on foodgawker.com has snapped me out of it. I’m so inspired that I might even take some pictures and blog a few recipes I enjoy!

Maybe it’s the cold weather (Oh man has it been cold here!), or all the other change that’s happening in our lives (moving soon, plus lots of other things I’ll share in the coming weeks), but I felt like yesterday was a good day for a hair cut! Not just any hair cut though, a bit of a more radical hair cut.

The hair dresser was hesitant to say the least when I told her that I wanted my hair in an angle- shoulder length one side, and the length it is now at the other (nearly at the bottom of my back). She tried to show me other hair styles, but to be frank, they were all ‘normal’ hair cuts. And I’ve had boring long hair for a while now. I wanted something interesting. Something different.

After convincing her that radical hair was not new to me, she agreed to cut. 60-odd dollars, and over an hour later I had been pampered with hair washing, major cuttage, and a straightening. Thankfully when Luke got home, he loved it. I hadn’t actually told him I was getting a hair cut (it was very impulse), let alone chopping off half the hair he adore so much…

It is hard to believe that on the short side my hair is 100% natural. O. M. G. It has literaly been about 11 years since I have seen my natural hair colour like this. You can see in the second picture that it gradually gets lighter. I’ve had the whole spectrum of colours before, dark brown (nearly black), to red, to blonde with white streaks at our wedding. So if you have a colour suggestion, I’m probably up for it (unless it’s orange- doesn’t suit my skin tone)!

From the front:

While we were in Adelaide it was my birthday and I turned 24! So it’s time to update my 24 by 24.

1. Make a coffee date dress I didn’t actually make the coffee date dress, but I did make THIS dress instead.

2. Loose 12kg (total, since start of WW- am currently at 6KG lost) This was a major fail. Haha.

3. Go to Europe! Done!!

4. Taken out a huge bank loan for our investments. We got pre-approval for a home loan, but ended up deciding not to go ahead with it.

5. Read through 3 more books of the bible Again, didn’t do this one like I should have.

6. Drink at lest 1L of water every day. Check! LOVE drinking water, and MOST days I drink about a litre.

7. Keep Shabbat better We’ve started going to a Friday night church will is really focussed on Shabbat, and Israel, so that’s at least a step in the right direction.

8. Start an online shop of my bags/crafts Done. You can check it out here.

9. Fit into my skinny jeans again Nope.

10. Hold an art exhibition Not quite, but for my Masters I’m going to have to show my quilt somewhere. So this one’s just postponed a bit.

11. Continue with my Creative 365 and post every day I tired, I really did. But after a while I lost momentum, and it all became a bit too much. I am happy to report that studying has really helped me to be creative, and even though I’m not recording it, I am doing something creative most days!

12. Cook at least one new meal each week To be honest, I haven’t been keeping track, but we have tried LOTS of new meals, so I’m going to give myself a tick for it.

13. Create more screencasts and tutorials for this blog I’ve done a few!

14. Scrapbook our Europe holiday Not really. I’ve started, but that’s about it!

15. Play at least 2 songs (well) on the saxaphone Nope. Another fail.

16. Develop a (free) creative thinking online PD for teachers Yeah, didn’t do this one either. Too much other stuff on is my excuse!

17. Expand my fabric stash Defintely done!!

18. FINALLY buy Nigella seeds- I have to be able to get them from somewhere!! NO!! Argh. This still drives me insane! Where ARE they?!

19. Make an etsy shop Done, though I don’t use it anymore- I use madeit.

20. Sell something in my etsy shop Done this as well, both in my etsy store, and in my madeit one!

21. Publish and distribute a ‘zine Done! You can download it here.

22. Support Luke in his creative endeavours

23. Become an ‘expert’ bread maker (read: not have to buy any bread from the shops again, just live off bread I make)

24. ‘Finish’ my photo/”C” wall

The weekend after Easterfest the same group of friends headed down the east coast of Australia to Byron Bay. We stayed in Lennox Head- about 15 minutes from Byron, and enjoyed the sun, shopping, and spa!

In August we’ll be off on our oversears holiday- South Korea, which will give us a total of 2 ‘big’ holidays, and 2 ‘long weekend’ holidays for 2011. This weekend I’m doing the recaps so you can see the adventures we’ve been off on!

A friend of ours, Peter, is a mime. He was performing at Easterfest, a christian music festival in Toowoomba. We went along to support him, and see what all the fuss is about! It was a fun weekend, except for the crazy rain that fell on the Saturday night, washing us away! The little flash flood was over in the morning, and we were safe (just a bit wet from sleeping on our wet, wet, air mattress)! Here are some pictures of the long weekend:

Crocodile for dinner the first night!

Pete the mime!

The night flood came. This was in the eating tent, and the water started piling up!

The next morning we just threw everything into garbage bags to take home and sort!

Man, it seems like I’m always off to meets lately! First it was this one hosted by Melissa from Suger Coat it, then it was this one hosted by Danielle and Danielle from Hello Owl and Danimezza, and now one at home on the Sunshine Coast! Next month I’m off to a sushi blog meet as well.

It was a lovely afternoon, even though we couldn’t stay for long. I got my fix of Vi cuddles, and Dani chats, and meet the lovely Lisa! It was Suzie‘s first meetup, so that was exciting as well!

With seven people the meetup was a fair bit smaller then the ones I’ve been to before, and you know what? I really, really liked that. It was just like hanging out with some friends, instead of meeting all these new people. And because I’d met most of these people before (Lisa was the only one I didn’t know), it was really relaxed and just… fun! I definitely wish we could have stuck around for longer, but alas, Rachel’s birthday dinner at South Bank was waiting!
