Rocking Horse Felt Ornament for Christmas

So yesterday I did two exciting things over at We Heart Life. The first was put a tutorial in the newsletter for a pretty, pretty felt bird ornament shown above, and the second thing was launch our December 12 Days of Christmas blog hop!! I really want you all to be involved too. It’s super easy, just make a tutorial on your blog for a christmas decoration or gift and then add the link here!
I thought I’d do a bit of a follow on tutorial from the newsletter, and show you how to make a different decoration, and also show you some techniques you’ll need to master!

How to make a Rocking Horse Felt Ornament for Christmas:
Step One:
Download this template, and trace it onto some white felt using a fabric marker that will dissapear wither with water or time. Do the same for a piece of red felt.
Step Two:
Cut both your rocking horses out and make sure they match.
Step Three:
Start stitching the rocking horses together making sure you start the stitch in the middle (so you can’t see where you start or end the stitching). Below is a video on how to make this happen.
Step Four:
At the top of your rocking horse add a loop for hanging. Again, more detailed instructions on how to do this are in the video below!
hang it on your tree, or in my case, the Christmas wall, and enjoy! You can make your own patterns and make baulbals, animals, christmas trees, stockings, reindeer, snowflakes, stars… anything at all!

My Christmas Wishlist
I fear that there is no way I’ll be getting the number one item on my Christmas wishlist, but here it is:
1. A Janome MS5027LE Sewing Machine.

It is everything I’m after- easy to buy new feet (I want a ΒΌ inch foot and a darning foot), You can bring the feed dogs up and down, it has the up and down in the one place thing to secure the end, and a top facing bobbin place.
In fact, the only thing on my list that this machine doesn’t do is having an extendable bench, but I can live with that!
Other things on my list are:

3. Fallen In Love dress from Modcloth (I’d love it in a NAVY though!)
5. An elephant button by Buttons By Lou Lou
Of course, over my with wishlist page there are other goodies I really, really, really want like a new pasta maker and Nigella Lawson’s “Kitchen” cookbook
This is part of Challenge 63 on Blog This.

Christmas Tutorials
Ah, Christmas! My favourite time of year. I love the heat, eating mangos, making beautiful christmas gifts, seeing family, and all the Christmas parties! So many good things associated with Christmas time!
For me, Christmas fever has already hit, and I am busily bookmarking all the awesome Christmas crafts I want to do before December 25th! Once that date hits, Christmas is all over, so I want to make the most of it before them and get myself in the Christmas mood now!
I’m going to have a bit of extra time this year before Christmas, because Luke and I are rearranging our hours at work, and somehow I’ve ended up with the AWESOME end of the bargain. Luke needs to work longer hours to get his work done, which means I get to work SHORTER hours (so that at the end of the week it’s still costing the business the same amount). How lucky am I? Of course, this means I need to do more chores around the house etc., but I’m sure I can fit some crafting in too!
To spur you along in your creativity this Christmas I’ve linked to a bunch of awesome Christmas tutorials Lincraft has just released. You can find them all on Michelle’s blog, The Red Thread.
I also wanted to tell you about a Blog Hop I’ll be running over at We Heart Life in December. The idea will be that create a turorial for a Christmas decoration, card, present etc. and post it on your blog. You add it to the link (starting on the 1st of December), on the WHL page, and on the 16th we start voting for our favourites. The winner will be get an awesome prize. I just have to figure out what it will be!!
Stay tuned for that one!
In the meantime, have a look at some of these tutorials, there are heaps more available here!
