How To Appreciate Handmade Gifts

Now that you know why you should appreciate handmade gifts here are a few rips on HOW to appreciate those gifts.
1 Say “thank you”
It seems pretty basic, but it really is the most important thing to remember. A sincere thank you will show that you appreciate the time, thought and effort gone into the gift.
2 Use and Display it
Nothing beats going round to a friend’s house and they’ve got your piece of art/craft on their wall. Even if you only put it up for a short while, it’s important to give it a go!
3 Show it off/recommend their talent!
Similar to the above point- you’re over at someone’s place for dinner and you mention to everyone, “Did you see the place mats JoJo made me for my birthday?” if JoJo is there then she’s super embarrassed (in a good way!), and if she’s not then who knows, your appreciation might be passed along the grapevine!
4 Make something for them
People who like making handmade gifts usually like receiving then too so have a go yourself at making something. At the very least you’ll have a new appreciation for the effort they’ve put in!
5 Smile
A big smile when you first receive the gift says it all. You really do like it. Don’t forget to smile!

Ponderings
*********
Apologies for the sparse blog posts, this one I wrote last Thursday, and planned to write another creative 365 summary yesterday- Sunday, but alas, the internet has not been working at home, and then I couldn’t take photos… and well, it just all went to poo. So here I am starting the week fresh! Might give you a Creative 365 update this arvo if I have time after work, whilst still AT work!

While we were in Europe we spent heaps of time on the bus, and therefore we had plenty of time to think and chat. One of the things I asked myself was “Who do I want to be?“. The answer was suprising, I want to be a runner.
Cue the scratching of the record as it gets ripped off the turntable and everyone stops and stares at me. *crickets*. Um… yeah, so, I want to be a runner!
Even though deep within myself I have found I want to be a runner, I don’t actually want to RUN. This is a problem.
So this last two weeks I’ve been on a positive self talk mission. Every chance I get I tell myself how much I love running, and how much I can’t wait to get home and have a run. I’ve also been telling Luke and Pepper how much I love running, and even our family and friends. I’m sure everyone is sick of it, except for me. My mind loves this stuff. It is lapping it all up and getting drunk on the love it feels for running. So much so that I’ve been out for a ‘run’ (read: walk with intermittent jogging) nearly every day this week, with the exception of crazily busy days where I simply think about how much I WISH I was running.
So here I am, a running convert, and a preacher of positive self talk! Who would have thought it?!
Of course, these little babies help with the motivation a bit too!
My attempt at Free Motion Quilting
So I’m doing things a little differently today and thought I would do a bit of a vodcast instead of write it all out…
I would appreciate your feedback on the free motion quilting I was learning, and how you think I can improve!!
