Tutorial: Making Your Embroidery Ready To Hang

*Luke and I are on our Melbourne / Great Ocean Road / Adelaide holiday at the moment, no doubt missing Pepper, so this is a pre-scheduled post. Something I don’t usually do, but it had to be done to fit everything in! Enjoy!*

Lately I’ve seen heaps of beautiful embroidery hoop works of art (just check out my pinterest board to see how many!), and if you’re inspired, like me, then you might like to try a few.

Once you’ve got through making it all though, you’re probably wondering how you make all the extra bits stay behind, and ready to hang on the wall.

This is my own take on how to get it ready to hang, but you can also read Carina’s different take on how to stitch things up at the back.

Pay It Forward, Backwards.

On Tuesday morning I got a cryptic little tweet from Kim asking if my mail man had come. He hadn’t come at his normal time, but by the time I came home from picking Luke up from work he had. I was super excited to see a package addressed to me!

You see, in February I participated in a little thing called “Pay It Forward” via Morgan & Kim’s blog, and this was the day I got my little handmade gift! I ripped it open (is there anyone who doesn’t frantically open parcels to see what’s inside?!) and I found a beautiful camera embroidered by the very talented Morgan, and a beautiful little letter typed on their typewritter. I was so excited I rushed down into the house, grabbed a hanger and nail and went straight to work making a place for it to hang. I think it’s meant to sit here, because this hole just happens to fit it perfectly!

What do you think, isn’t it beautiful!? I feel very lucky to have amazing friends like Morgan and Kim. They are an incredibly inspirational pair!
