Embroidered Buttons…

You may have noticed a button swap badge over on the right —> (if you visit my actual blog, and not just in your reader).

Well, I (finally) finished my buttons, and they’re sent of to my partner in the USA! Kim, my partner asked me to make some Australian themed buttons, and that’s what I tried to do! I’ll give you a little explanation on each button.

Top, left -> right.

Kanagroo. Where I work, there are kanagroos EVERYWEHRE. Our offices are at the Universtiy of the Sunshine Coast and they lazy around in the lawns, and in the school next door.

Uluru. I’ve never been, but would love to visit.

Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. I hate going to Sydney, BUT it’s where most people think of when they think of Australia, so I put it in…

Bottom, left -> right.

Gumnuts. They are perfect for crafts, or just to sit in a vase! Our house has lots of gumnut trees around us.

Cricket. Before I got married all I knew about cricket was that Australia was really good at it, and that lots of people played it in their backyard. Then I got married and Luke wanted to WATCH it. On the TV. On Boxing Day! Crazy…

The Beach. I live near(ish) to the beach. It’s lovely. :-D

Also, you might remember my little creative challenge- to do something creative every day. Well, I’ve been doing it (almost) every day for a while now, and my tumblr is looking pretty with all the photos of creative stuff. Feel free to have a look!

AND if you haven’t done my little survey yet, there’s still time! I really aprecaite everyone taking the time to do it- it’s given me lots of insight into what you all want and read my blog for!

Thanks for visiting my site again! keep checking back for more updates!

Congratulations.

My first congratulations is to Carmen and Jeff, who got engaged on the weekend. How exciting! I can’t wait to go shopping and help her think of ideas and stuff!

carmen and jeff are engaged.

We all went down to Sydney for it, and it was a really good weekend. Carmen didn’t suspect a thing, which made it so much more fun! Luke and I met up with them after the proposal, and carried around Carmen’s hoards of flowers!! Read more about it at her post: here.

I guess the only bad thing about Sydney was how I kept thinking I was in an Asian country. It actually made me upset that this iconic piece of Australia was really not Australian at all…

My second congratulations goes to Baz Lurhman and his newest film, “Australia”. I am now incredibly proud to be an Australian, and am happy that people all over the world will see this movie, and think of Australia like this… in some way or another.

I felt that it was a really respectful representation of all types of Australians, particularly aboriginal people, and I found that it was a really interesting perspective on them. It made me want to pack up and go live in the outback. I feel like it’s almost where I belong.

I bawled my eyes out nearly the whole time, and basically just clung to Luke (poor Luke!), but it really was a great movie.
