The masters I’m studying is in Cross-Disciplinary Art & Design, and so our major project is our own cross-discplinary project. It sounds complicated, but I always explain it to people like this- it’s getting together art and design disciplines (as well as other disciplines) that aren’t usually used together to create awesome new stuff that breaks everyone’s ideas.

The project I’ve decided on deals with how the internet affects culture. For my final piece of Semester 1 (due last night) I did this video explaining an overview of the project. I’d love for you to watch it. There are going to be exciting opportunities for people to be involved later in the year, and next year, with the actual construction of the patchwork piece, so stay tuned!

I made this quick little ‘how to’ screencast to show you how to remove that pesky ‘Blogs I’m following’ category from your google reader.

The main reason that I chose to do this was because I wanted to categorise the blogs i follow via the ‘follow’ button on their blogs, in the same way that all my other blogs are categorised.
For me, categorising is an important part of blog reading. It means that I can access my regular reads quickly, and that I can draw inspiration on certain topics easily by browsing the blogs in that category!

The bread we made in the video below was Ciabatta, an Italian loaf you can probably get in the bakery. It was fairly easy, but we did have to let it rise for 12 hours, so it took a bit of forward planning, and a whole lot of patience!!

Since then I’ve made a few more batches, and we’ve been eating the bread I’ve made for lunches. I’m a little bit annoyed because my own doesn’t seem to be making bread as nicely as mum and dad’s oven, or the oven we learnt on… it means that while these bread loaves are beautiful and soft, mine are always a bit hard- because the heat isn’t getting into the bread right… Apparently this is something that does happen, and a consideration when buying an oven. When we build I will be looking out for a super duper oven, but for now I think I’ll have to think of a way to make do with what I’ve got!

Last week Luke and I decided to take a break from the home group we’ve been going too, just to re-prioritse the activities we’re involved in, and re-focus. I’d love to get into playing a sport again one night, but I’m not sure where, and the cost (I know it’s never much- but we’re trying to save all our pennies) could be a set-back. Pilates on the DVD at home will have to do for now!!

I’m looking at going to a scrapbooking night on Friday nights with mum, and maybe Rachel which would be fun, and if I don’t go to that i will try to make a time each week when I can sit down and just scrap.

BUT

Yesterday I decided that I would just have a go at some video editing anyway, even though we had home group at 7:30 and I was making lasagne for tea…(ie: dinner will take a long time to make, and there’s not that much time to make it in)

So here is my try at it… It’s really old footage, ’cause Luke and I haven’t been firetwirling since before we were married. Probably not really since Easter 2007…

This is 2006 footage peoples, and it’s not there for you to laugh at how crapy we were, but just to tell me that the editing isn’t all THAT bad (though in hindsight, I wish I put transitions inbetween the photos), and that I should give it another whirl some time…

Good news on the Israel front as well- cheaper plane tickets then last time we were looking! And my passport has been processed, and is in the mail today! So I should get it by the end of the week! Pretty good turn-around seeing as I only applied for in on Friday! Though I did pay for the priority…
