Wedded Bliss
So some pretty awesome friends got married on the 1st of May. Their wedding was perfectly them, and SO much fun! I loved it- one of the best weddings I think I’ve EVER been to!
Here are some of my favourite snaps of the day. I love the details. xo

Tim, the guy who married them is the same Pastor who married us.

Two of our beautiful friends- Gaby and Sarah.

An unconventional way of signing the register…

This Kim’s brother and a friend. They played Love Cats while they signed the register! It was awesome and everyone was singing along!

Morgan is french and the had a bit of a french ‘theme’ happening. This must have been a family friend? and she played the accordian. It was so fun.

Me, the bride, and Naomi.

They had all these tea cups set out with little sayings tied to them. You took one as you got a drink, but then you got to take it home! It doubled as the bombinere! This is such a good idea, no?!

Instead of like a guest book, they had slips of paper and coloured pens that you could write some kind words onto.

And then you pegged them up to the line in the courtyard!

Handmade bunting! I totally love bunting, and after this I am very inspired to make my own! Great for birthday parties!

They had heaps of pretty flowers in random bottles on the tabels scattered around! So beautiful!

Last, but definitely not least- the bouquet. Is it not GORGEOUS! I seriously thought it was beautiful!!

Bridal Blessing Night
My mum decided to make this celebration up- a Bridal Blessing Night, she called it…
This is the last in the wedding series. I hope you’ve enjoyed it!
What it is: One of the things mum wanted to do was pass on advice and wisdom from women older then me (women of her generation), who had the experience of years of marriage .
The women who came shared their advice, stories, and ‘hints’ on how to be a good wife, and how to live in harmony together.
Time before wedding: In the week leading up to the wedding.
Who was invited: A few select women who have influenced my mother’s life, and women who have known me since I was born. These were mostly women who had already invested time and love into me through out the last 20 years. All the women there had advice to share from their own experience as a married woman.
Atmosphere: It was intended to be (and was) a bit of an encouraging, uplifting, ‘wise’ sort of night. It was just a celebration of the fact that I was getting married, and who I was becomming.
What happened: Apart from the regular nibblies and tea, each woman shared advice with me, and gave me some things to think about for my married life. To be honest, I can’t remember a lot of it, but I do remember a few key things which have been helpful.
One thing that has stuck with me from the night was this (I’m paraphrasing big time here…), “Never put down your spouse in public. If you disagree with them, are annoyed at them, or whatever, either wait until you are alone to discuss it, or pull them aside so you’re alone and discuss. It’s important that through everything you remain together, and that you are a united front”.
We prayed together, and all the women prayed for me as well. We read some parts of the bible and thought and talked about what they meant. It was a real encouragement.
The quilt some of the ladies are holding is the quilt Nana made for Luke and I as our wedding pressent. Isn’t it beautiful?!
Hens Night
So, the next event in my wedding series in my Hens Night. Pretty sure everyone knows what happens at a hens night- lots of fun with the girls!
I would LOVE to hear what you did for your hens night! Go on, tell me…
What it is: Most Friday nights at Mooloolaba you see a hens night. It usually involves a bride dressed up in an awful costume, carrying something resembling male genetalia, and everyone getting rather drunk. My hens night was nothing like that, and I guess it could be considered quite ‘mild’. It was basically just a fun celebration with my close girl-pals.
I think traditionally it’s a ‘woman’s last night of freedom’ similar to a buck’s night. I didn’t really want that to be associated with my hens night though, because, well, I was really looking forward to getting married, and definitely didn’t feel like I was getting ‘tied down’!!
Time before wedding: Mine was about 2 weeks before the wedding? Something like that…
Who was invited: Basically all my girl friends from church and Uni and other random places. These girls were all around my age. None of our mothers or family members allowed!
Atmosphere: It was pretty relaxed and fun. A little bit silly, and a little bit embarrasing (well, for me anyway!).
What happened: My friend Mandy organised the night for me, and we went to a jazz club. It was pretty much full of old people- but I like old people, so I was down with that. We all came dressed in 50′s style clothing, and ate from the delish spread Mandy had put out. The girls told the band that was playing that it was my hens night, and so I got dragged up on stage to be serenaded. That was EXTREMEMLY embarrasing, but thankfully there was nothing worse!
It wasn’t a very late night, I was home by maybe 11:30? It was so memorable, and I am so glad that I got to have a night with my friends.
Being serenaded…
Me and Mandy (who organised the night for me)
Gaby, Mel and I being silly…
Rachel, Carmen and I enjoying some fairy bread and other goodies!
