The Art of Persuasion…

I’m not a people person.

In fact, one could describe me as an ‘anti-people person’.

It’s not that I don’t like fixing problems or what not, I’m just not that good with people. I get grumpy and frustrated easily. So this is something that I’ve really had to work on and try to improve, and by goly, being nice to people works WONDERS!

So it has been my mission the last few days to be nice to people and not get frustrated with them. It’s hard sometimes, but I’m getting there! Of course, this is mostly relevant to work, but is sometimes related to at home and socializing!

In other news, my parentals and A-mon-o-me (Amon) came home from Myanmar, formally known as Burma. Click the links to learn more about it via Wikipedia, though it may romanticise it a bit… So here’s a little collage of the weekend…

1. The rose I picked from my parents garden. 2. The new iron we bought. $100. 3. Luke playing the burmese harp my parents and Amon brought back from Myanmar. 4. The white gold and diamond bracelet my parents bought me from Myanmar as my graduation present. 5. Amon and Luke trying on Myanmarian clothes...

Of course, I also enjoyed taking lots of photos with Rachel, and catching up with Zoey and her family (including the always adorable Mayana!) randomly at M’ba.

The finished apron!

YAY! I have finsihed the apron for the apron swap! Today I POSTED it, so it is on it’s way to the United States! I’ll let you know who the recipient is once she’s let me know she’s got it! Mean while, here’s some pictures…

I’m really quite proud of my effort, considering I’d never made an apron before! Of course, I’ve made other things, but this had to be especially neat!!

This weekend I’m planning on putting together a little tutorial for you on how to make an awesome phone sock/cover. So stay tuned for that early next week. I am SO glad it’s Friday. This week I have worked an entire extra day is overtime, but Dad (who’s also my boss) gave us all a half an hour off this afternoon, which was really nice of him. It’s a perfect way to end a Friday! Luke is tired, and asleep in bed at the moment, because it was Shavuot last night/today, which meant all night praying and studying the Torah & Acts. A big night, and I think I’ll do it as well next year. Hopefully in time I will get all the Jewish festivals under my belt. They currently come up on me unexpectedly!

I am currently extremely tempted to purchase some cute fabrics from Aunt Beas Sewing Basket, so I’m hoping off the computer now!!

Here’s a slideshow of my apron photos…

Keeping Memories…

You may have noticed that I have a very cute little plugin on my blog for showing other posts that might be of interest to you, when you finsih the post you’re reading. I myself was very interested to see what other posts came up, as some of them stretch back to the beginning days of my blog, back in January 2007. I stumbled across this post which I wrote after Luke and I had been married for six months. In the post I more or less talk about how I’m managing my time now that I’m married, and where we will be when we hit the ‘one year’ mark. Well, it’s recently been that same time of year again, when we’re half way through another year of marriage (!!). I thought I would exam where I thought we’d be, where we really are, and make another prediction for the future!

Well, we’re definitely spending more time together- and making regular date nights every week, to make sure that we’re doing something special. We’re balancing life and uni and work, only now it’s Luke at Uni, and me working, and Life? Well, it just seems to happen all the time!! I have become some sort of a work-a-holic, where I need to spend more time there then I actually get paid for, but I think it is worth it. We are doing a great thing, and Luke and I always make time for each other.

I DO have my sexy Digital SLR, HAVE finished Uni, and DO have more time for blogging. Yay! We are definitely a year closer to having a baby… I think. Actually, maybe we are year further away, cause we’ve changed our minds! Haha. But we’ve been talking about it a lot more, and deciding on some foundational areas on parenting years away from having one. It is a good feeling, even if Luke doesn’t like the awesomely cute girls names I like. Ladies, HOW DO YOU CONVINCE YOUR HUSBAND ON AWESOME BABY NAMES?! I am totally in love with the name “Avery” at the moment. It is the sweetest thing I’ve heard in ages!

Haha, one of the last things I say in that post is “My other thing I am constantly working on (but getting much better at) is apologising immediately after I say something rudely, or in a huff, or hurtful. Wish me luck!!” This cracks me up, because yes, I am STILL working on this! But I am a bit better…!

Beautiful images captured by the scanner!

Above is one my latest creations- some scan art! I love making these, because they are super beautiful and easy to make! They can also be really beautiful and meaningful. I started doing it ages ago, and think I might take it up again! Here’s one I did back then…
